相传，必打佛的原型是一位名为善迦财的佛祖弟子。他天资聪颖、外貌英俊，甚至与佛祖有几分相似，因此在化缘时总能获得特别礼遇，甚至被误认是佛祖的化身。然而，这些赞誉却成为他修行的障碍，更有人造谣他借此优势违反戒律。为了专心向佛，他运用神通改变自身外貌，使身形矮小、体态圆润，并用双手遮住脸部，以屏蔽外界干扰，专注修行，从此便有了“必打佛”之称。

Phra Pidta was originally a disciple of Buddha named San Ka Chai. He was highly intelligent and had an elegant appearance that resembled Buddha. Due to this, he was often mistaken for an incarnation of Buddha and received great admiration. However, these praises became obstacles in his spiritual practice, and rumors arose about him. To avoid distractions and focus on his path, he used his divine powers to alter his appearance—making himself shorter and plumper—and covered his face with his hands, symbolizing his detachment from worldly disturbances. This led to the creation of the Phra Pidta image.
