又有人称谓大医王佛,医王善逝或消灾延寿药师佛。为东方琉璃净土的教主。据说信奉药师如来能够医治百病,解除各种顽疾苦痛,消灾延寿,因此我国历史上社会各阶层对药师如来的信仰很盛。药师佛身披叁法衣，具足法身佛之相好光明，右手作手印、左手托钵，钵盛满能治众生一切诸病之妙药甘露，以金刚盘坐于莲花月轮上，药师佛为大医王佛，发十二誓愿救众生之病源，治无明之疯虐，修持药师佛能除一切病苦灾业，有无边功德。供奉药师佛可令一家人身体健康。
药师佛牌的功效为助人成愿、清业障、健康、保平安。针对生病患者，如身体不好者，长期病痛困扰者，无病者佩戴的话，可以身体健康。
